Gold Super Bowl Wings
If you have Instagram, you’ve probably seen the crazy $1,000 wings from The Ainsworth that are coated in edible 24K gold. Is it stupid to spend that money on wings? Yes! Is it stupid even if you’re Jonathan Cheban and can afford to? Yes! So, we #WeekendEats the hell out of these wings in honor of Super Bowl Sunday. And the best part is, our wings cost us under $20 bucks to make and are sure to impress!
Serving size: 15 wings
1 pack of chicken wings, raw (ours came with 15 inside)
1/3 cup flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp cayenne
1 tsp salt
1/3 cup salted butter, melted
1/3 cup hot sauce (we used Frank’s Red Hot)
1 lemon, juiced
Optional: 1 tbsp honey for a little sweetness
1 vile of edible gold dust
Preheat your oven to 400 degrease to start. In a bowl, combine: flour, baking soda, garlic powder, cayenne and salt.
Cover your raw chicken wings in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess. Lay the wings evenly on a baking sheet and pop in your oven for about 15 minutes.
While those are baking, in a separate bowl combine: butter, hot sauce, lemon juice and optional honey.
Take your wings out of the oven and put them in the bowl with the hot sauce mixture. Coat thoroughly and then pour the whole bowl back on to the baking sheet. Put back in the oven for another 15 minutes or until crispy.
Cover your cooked wings with the edible gold dust and enjoy!
