The Best Skin Treatments for Your Hangover

The Best Skin Treatments for Your Hangover

The other day I was looking at old photos of myself and I was absolutely shocked. Puffy eyes, swollen face, dry skin, looked like I had a headache: I was a walking hangover. Yikes. How far I’ve come since binge drinking in college!

While I don’t go on my long benders of Thirsty Thursdays, Friday nights out, day drinking Saturday and Sunday Funday anymore, I do know what alcohol does to my skin. And it’s not pretty. If you’re like me, you puff up and you see wrinkles you never knew existed because you’re so dehydrated. Now, because I’m getting old and my hangovers (while few and far between) are horrendous, I have found ways to battle these “symptoms,” if you will.

I’m not going to write water as #1 on this list because you should be smart enough to know that by now.

To prepare while you’re still drunk

Put this on the night you get home before bed. You’ll thank me later. Or you can thank me when you’re putting it on and send me a drunk DM. Chances are I’ll be doing it, too.

This is meant to be put on in the morning (which you still can and should do, come hangover time) but I’m a firm believer in over preparing. Doomsday for me, is the day I look like a baggy elephant. I love elephants, but I don’t want my face to have their skin texture, I’m sorry.

To rid your skin of toxins from sugary cocktails

This mask is known to extract toxins as well as cleanse and resurface your complexion.

This is a great mask for soothing that dry skin that comes with a hangover.

To give your skin a moisturizing boost throughout the day

This is like giving your skin a sip of water. It will need that. I use this every time I’m hungover when my skin feels like it just took a trip to the Sahara desert. I usually apply once in the morning, once in the afternoon and again at night.

To get rid of the eye puffiness

Use this the night before and/or the following morning. I love H2O products because they really do hydrate the skin and bring a glow. Be gone, puffiness.

If you're lower budget and have to get rid of eye puffiness

Grace & Stella Anti-Wrinkle + Energizing Eye Masks, $16

With the price tag on these and the rave reviews, these are a steal and great for your hangover needs. They are also gold and add a little glow to your beauty regimen.

…another way to get rid of the eye puffiness if your budget is even tighter

I actually tried this for my puffy eyes one day and it worked. Not sure if saving the money is worth the embarrassment at CVS checkout, but it will do the trick. The cream causes blood vessel walls to constrict, so using a little bit under the eye does the same thing and can help with reducing puffiness. LOL. Good luck.
