Puppy Health: Why I Feed Poppy PetPlate
As you all probably know, I got a puppy! My babe Poppy <3 (@poppythetoyaussie, of course I’m going to shout out my son). Poppy is an adorable toy Australian Shepherd whom I love and want the absolute best for. But when we first got Poppy, we tried to feed him a few different brands of dog food but surprisingly…he wouldn’t eat any of them. This worried me because a) I was like how can my son not love to eat?! and b) well, I didn’t want the poor guy to starve. Australian Shepherds have very sensitive stomachs and Poppy is from Portland and ate like a puppy KING growing up, so his palate is far too sophisticated for his own good. I’m talking egg yolks on his food, fresh Greek yogurt and grilled chicken breasts as his treats.
So where did I go from there? I looked for a food that had wholesome and nutritious ingredients that I could see myself eating. That’s when I found PetPlate and had the wonderful opportunity to work with them. PetPlate uses USDA certified meats, fresh fruits and veggies and all the recipes are designed by vet nutritionist Dr. Renee Streeter. Plus, they have gourmet meal recipes for Poppy — think lamb and quinoa, or farmhouse beef. I want to make sure Poppy is healthy and strong so it’s relieving to know that each recipe is filled with vitamins and minerals. Plus they deliver right to my door, which is very ideal for my busy and on-the-go lifestyle.
PetPlate is human grade dog food, which means I can eat it too (which I have LOL). As you guys know, I work to live a balanced lifestyle that features home cooked, nutritional meals like chicken, sweet potatoes and veggies. It’s pretty cool that Poppy and I are literally eating the same things. No artificial ingredients, no preservatives, no BS!
To show you guys how incredible this brand is, I decided to put together a human-sized version of the Chicken Harvest PetPlate bowl that Poppy eats for dinner. I mean, damn, is it just me or does that look delicious?! I know this doesn’t fall under my typical recipe post, but my pup means everything to me now and his food is literally my food. I thought it was important to share why I choose to feed him PetPlate so if you’re trying to figure out what food to choose for your dog, it can now be a no brainer.
